Massage therapy is generally very safe. However, for your protection, there are certain conditions where treatment may not be appropriate. Your safety is our highest priority, so please review the guidelines below before booking your session.

If you are unsure whether massage is right for you, we strongly recommend consulting with your physician.

1. Please Reschedule Your Session (Full Contraindications)

If you are experiencing any of the following, we cannot perform a massage and ask that you reschedule your appointment until the condition has resolved.

  • Fever or contagious illness (including cold, flu, or any infection)

  • Under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs

  • Recent injury or surgery (within the last 4-6 weeks, unless cleared by your doctor)

  • Contagious skin conditions (rashes, ringworm, impetigo, etc.)

2. Areas We Must Avoid (Local Contraindications)

Massage can proceed, but we will avoid specific areas of the body affected by:

  • Varicose veins

  • Undiagnosed lumps, bumps, or swelling

  • Bruises, cuts, abrasions, or sunburn

  • Localized inflammation (such as a flare-up of arthritis)

  • Any area of unexplained pain

3. Medical Clearance Required (Medical Contraindications)

If you have been diagnosed with any of the following conditions, we require written permission from your physician prior to your session to ensure your safety.

  • Cardiovascular issues: History of blood clots (DVT/ thrombosis), hypertension, heart disease, or use of a pacemaker

  • Neurological conditions: Epilepsy, neuritis, or pinched nerves

  • Chronic illnesses: Osteoporosis, cancer, diabetes, or ongoing edema

  • Other conditions: Psoriasis or eczema in an active flare-up
